In 1616, it is said that pottery stone, a raw material for porcelain, was discovered in Izumiyama, Arida, Saga Prefecture, by the first Korean pottery Kangae Sanbei (commonly known as Lee Sanping) . Arita has reached its 400th year in 2016 as the first place in Japan where porcelain is baked. We continue manufacturing with a focus on tableware and arts and crafts. Hard porcelain At present, Izumiyama, Saga Prefecture is excavated completely, and the ceramic stone of Amakusa Islands, Kumamoto Prefecture is mainly used. Porcelain can also be produced in China, etc. only Izumiyama in Saga and Amakusa pottery in Kumamoto can be made alone. Arita ware has a thin and delicate impression, but it is actually harder, lighter and more durable than pottery. The original design The technique of blue painting that has been passed from China for a long time is exported to the West in the early Edo period, and the old German pottery Meissen imitates that design, and it is also imported into Japan.
